Ever wondered what successful people wear to work every day? Chances are, probably nothing too exciting. More and more people are choosing to follow in the footsteps of their icons and wear the same thing to work every day. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, one of the youngest billionaires in the world, keeps it simple and heads to work in a grey t-shirt every day, while Steve Jobs also had a set outfit. But why do him and so many others do it? Here are six reasons why.

1. No wasted energy
Large wardrobes require a fair amount of effort. You may spend hours a week putting washing in, ironing and arranging your wardrobe as well as actually spending a few minutes deciding what you’re going to wear each morning.

2. Fewer decisions
If you’re making a range of important decisions every single day, by just taking one away, you will find that you have more mental space and will feel much less stressed in the morning because you’re not running around your bedroom throwing clothes around! One fewer decision every morning will give you more time to think about things that really matter.

3. Much more put together
Ever walked out the house and actually questioned what on earth you’re wearing? If you’re in a rush every morning, you probably aren’t going to think about what goes with what and if you’re actually going to look good in it. Here’s an award-winning brand you have got to know more about fellas…we’ve been lucky enough to test run both Gruhme’s Original & No.14 fragrances leading up to this review, but not wanting to feature this grooming company in a linear light, we threw company CEO Robert Hallmark and BD manager  Thomas Kollen into the High Street Gent hot seat, to find out that little bit more about Gruhme.

Gruhme is a fast growing British brand with years of development and incredible attention to detail.

Gruhme’s fragrances are more than sophisticated looking bottles.  Gruhme use the same blend of fine ingredients in the No.14 that they use in their original fragrance but a stronger 14% concentration, rather than 10% in the original. This extra strength improves the longevity but also gives a more concentrated burst of scent. They like to use this as an evening variant and use the original version for the daytime with its more understated tones.

1. How would you describe Gruhme? What is it in a nutshell?

Gruhme is an up-and-coming fragrance house for the discerning gentleman, and with our products we hope to inspire and engage the male population. We believe in sophistication through simplicity, and this ethos has been the foundation of everything we have created so far. Attention to detail and aesthetics are more important to us than just daily profit and spend.

2. How did Gruhme start and why?

Gruhme is the brainchild of former corporate lawyer, Rob Hallmark. When Gruhme started in 2013 the mission wasn’t to go head to head with the established brands but to offer an alternative. Many of the iconic men’s brands from the 1980’s and 90’s were now in the hands of global conglomerates and these creative superpowers had been turned into safe and obedient subsidiaries. Rob felt their creative, innovative, pioneering pasts were lost, for ever. At Gruhme we have worked hard to bring back that personal drive and passion to male grooming and fragrance.

3. What goes into deciding what your award winning fragrances are?

When we were launching our first fragrance, the Gruhme Original, we knew we had to get it absolutely right as it would be our only product and the business would depend on it being well received by our customers. We did not rush it, but spent a lot of time focusing on research and development, whilst working closely with one of the biggest perfumeries in the country. It was a long process which included countless discarded scents, but when we discovered what is now the Gruhme original, we knew we were on to a winner. The fragrance was launched on the market, and the feedback was great! However, some people were requesting a stronger version, hence we launched Gruhme No.14 which is named for its 14% concentration compared to the Original’s 10%. In March 2016 Gruhme No.14 won Best Men’s Fragrance in the grooming category at the Beauty Shortlist Awards, which we are incredibly proud of.

4. Do you have any new products in the pipeline?

We do! This autumn we plan on launching the Gruhme Shave Cream which is based on the scent of our invigorating fragrances. It smells really nice and citrusy, which is perfect for a morning shave! Both Rob and I have been testing the shave cream for a while and we are very pleased with it, so can’t wait to bring it to market. This too is made right here in the UK, just like our other products.

5. What are yours & Robert’s favourite product Gruhme stocks?

For now it is Gruhme No.14, but ask us again in a few months when the shave cream is out and the answer will probably be different!

6. Gruhme has grown really quickly and successfully, what would you say is key to making your brand successful when you start out?

Attention to detail is what separates a good brand from a great brand, and similarly a good product from a great product. Make sure you are consistent when it comes to the quality of your products and your customer service, always under promise and over deliver. That way your customers will turn into fans and brand ambassadors, and that is the key to building a successful brand.

To conclude and wrap up, we’d have to say that Gruhme is a great British brand, that has strong values and gentlemanly qualities. The brand has an elegance that comes with being a gent, demonstrated in the clean, smart and classy design of the packaging and marketing. A betting site has launched an online tool which offers football fans excuses for England losing matches, missing goals and generally disappointing fans during the Euro 2016 tournament.  

An England Excuse Generator has been launched to coincide with the kick-off of Euro 2016. The site was developed by betting site, www.wincashlive.com, in order to console football fans with some tongue-in-cheek humour in the face of defeat.

The tool offers fans the opportunity to generate a completely random excuse for England’s losses, misses and general disappointments, with examples ranging from the players’ boots being too small and the balls being too bouncy; through to more ethereal influences such as gypsy curses and Murphy’s Law.

Although they may sounds rather farfetched, many of the excuses are credited to industry characters who have actually used them before when discussing previous disappointments; including Sir Alex Ferguson, Fabio Capello and Alan Hansen, among others.

Mobs London – from teen to gent

MOBS LONDON is a brand new London based company specialising in lifestyle products for young men. MOBS LONDON was set up for a couple of reasons, one being a flooded gift market for young ladies and secondly a poor minimal selection of products for young men.

I can remember being 13 years old and wanting to step away from the t-shirts with cartoon characters on, the full sports-kits, childish outer-wear and dress like a grown-up…the only problem with that, was the fact that the sizes of clothing for a small man were far too big for my (still) boyish frame! Although I was 13, I definitely thought I was going on 30 and that one size fit all; the truth was the t-shirts, trousers and jackets were all too long and definitely oversized from any high street retailer! It frustrated me and it frustrated my mum!

It’s exactly the reasons mentioned above how MOBS LONDON came about. MOBS have created a brand working with UK designers and printers to produce some exclusive apparel. Alongside the MOBS LONDON brand they have high quality products which have been carefully sourced, trying wherever possible to work with manufacturers in the UK, for the purpose of the younger adult.

The website is easy to navigate, with lots of product photography and the quality of the items are demonstrated throughout the site. The prices are clearly listed so there are no shocks or surprises at the checkout.

It was about time someone spotted this gap in the market and filled perfectly with a brand that any age of gent would be happy to wear, tricky job, but with the bright colours, simple designs, no age restrictions are placed on these products.

The one-stop shop for the younger gent was founded by the wives of Gary Barlow and Jason Donovan: Dawn Barlow, who has three children with Gary, and Angela Malloch, who has three with Donovan…after becoming frustrated while trying to find gifts for their teenage sons.

Dawn said: “We felt the market was flooded with great products for girls and, unless you want tech or novelty, nothing for the boys. It was as simple as us just saying to each other ‘Why don’t we fill the gap ourselves?’ We did a lot of market research, mostly on our boys and their friends. We found they really like to keep things simple and that was a good starting point.

The brand remains true to it’s ethos, whilst broadening it’s horizon’s and making it an appealing brand for all.
