5 Bonding Activities for Men apart from Drinking

bonding activities

I don’t think it’s necessary to stress how important bonding is in life – making any relationship stronger is a very positive thing. And just like girls need their time out to gossip, go shopping or share their sex life with their girlfriends, men have to do the same, but in a slightly different way. Theirs will not involve any gossiping or shopping, but it can include so many great activities. So, if you have no idea what to do next with your guy crew, or you just want to organize something in your company where all the men will bond and have fun, take a look at five of the best activities for this:

Watch a sports game

Men in general love sports. Yes, it can happen that we don’t all love the same sport, but we don’t have any problem watching a match of the sport that we don’t follow. Even though it will involve a couple of drinks here and there, watching a sports game is a great experience where alcohol doesn’t play the biggest part. Hanging out together, watching and commenting on the game while actually talking in between the breaks is a great bonding activity. Depending on the result, it might also involve some table hitting, screaming and being barbaric – but that is the whole point of this great bonding activity. If you have the chance, you should definitely buy tickets and actually go see a sports game live.

Play a video game

Boys will be boys, they say. And there’s probably no truer saying, as men will always love video games, just like boys. This is also one in the limited range of activities that men can do with young sons or cousins – everyone will have fun. That’s why this is a great activity that you can do with your friends or colleagues. It doesn’t really matter what game you’re playing, as long as you have a competitive spirit and you’re playing against each other, it’s going to be interesting. On the other hand, you can always choose a game that will require teamwork and thus build your relationship as all of you try to come out victorious.

Go for teambuilding activities

Teambuilding activities have gained so much popularity in recent years, especially those interesting ones such as room escape, where you have to solve a mystery using teamwork. That is what makes the whole activity teambuilding, as you definitely have to be a part of the team. Another great option are corporate game events that are extremely interesting, and also involve a lot of teamwork. If you’re up for something that doesn’t require any physical activity, this one’s definitely for you, and you can find more about it here. However, if you’re up for something more active, you always try paintball, as it’s probably one of the most popular teambuilding activities at the moment.

Go fishing

Yes, it might sound dull, but fishing is more than meets the eye. You have to deal with a lot of things such as boats, pay attention to the weather, know everything about the equipment, bait and everything else. However, if you’re into this, and you go with your friend or friends, you can figure everything out by yourselves. This is an excellent activity if you haven’t seen your friend in a long time – chatting in a serene environment while taking a break from work obligations at the same time sounds like an excellent idea.

Go bike riding or on an exploration trip

Lastly, you can always take your bike with you and head to the countryside. Not only will you be doing something active that’s also healthy and has many other benefits, but it’s a great bonding activity as well. Also, you can discover so many hidden corners of your town or village, and that’s always an amazing experience. If you’re bolder, though, you can go on an exploration trip such as rafting or diving. Both of them are very sporty activities, so it’s guaranteed that everyone will love them.

There is a plethora of options to choose from, but believe us when we say that, apart from drinking, these are the best ones. And it doesn’t matter which one you choose, you’ll have so much fun and you’ll awaken that competitive and teambuilding spirit that you might not have known you needed that much.

6 Signs You Really Need a Break From Work

Businessman Working Summer Beach Relaxation with Laptop

It feels like a life time since the last time you had a holiday, it was yonks back! The weather is still pretty glum, with a bit of blue-sky breaking now and again, but you’re fed up, right?

Are you sitting at your desk dreaming about a weekend in Barcelona or at least 4 weeks’ minimum in the Maldives? However, just wanting a tan and cocktails aren’t the only reasons to pack up and have a break.

A study from University College in London found that overworking can lead to a 33% higher risk of having a stroke, and a 13% increased risk of a heart attack. Taking a holiday doesn’t make you a bad worker though and will actually make you a better worker as you can return re-energized and therefore better able to tackle challenges and stress. Here are six signs that you really need a break from work.

1. You keep messing everything up

You send emails to the wrong people, your spreadsheets are complete chaos and you’ve spilt your coffee over several others desks. If you’re finding yourself making constant mistakes, it’s because your brain is in overtime and you’re too stressed to focus on small tasks. It’s time for a rest before you break a leg or even worse, your company laptop.

2. What does enthusiastic mean anymore?

You never used to mind getting up for work and enjoyed a challenge every day, but now you just don’t care and you couldn’t be less enthusiastic even if you tried. It’s because you haven’t had some me time in god knows how long right? Chances are, by taking some time off, you’ll find that enthusiasm about your career again and start putting the effort in again.

3. What even is sleep?!

You can’t remember the last time that you had a full night’s sleep and you’re up all hours of the night worrying about work. It’s time to book a few minutes off before you turn into a zombie! Not enough sleep is bad for your health and will have a knock on effect on the rest of your life, don’t risk turning those around you against you because of your grouchy sleepy moments and ditch the desk.

4. Everyone is so annoying

You’re usually the funniest one in the office, but you’re just finding everyone really annoying recently and you’ve lost your sense of humour at work. Not only will this make you lose friends at work, you’re not being yourself and chances are, your boss will notice this, especially if it’s making you a bad worker and incorporative with other team members.

5. You’ve lost your social life

You’ve actually become so obsessed with work that you’ve forgotten how to live life outside of it. You forgot all about your gran’s birthday and the drinks at the pub with your mates on Friday evening because you were still in the office at 10pm. If you can’t think about anything other than work, you’re going to drive yourself and those around you crazy because you’re so self-absorbed.

6. You look a complete mess

Even if you’re not always looking your best, you look even worse than what you normally do because the lack of sleep and life in general is having such an effect on you that you look super miserable all the time, your hair isn’t brushed and your eye bags suggest you’ve been in punched a few times the previous night. You need some fresh air and time to rejuvenate as well as catching up on your sleep and go somewhere where you can fully relax and switch off from work mode.

So, before you dive into a pool of despair, we suggest you plan a weekend break or a get-away so you have something to look forward too! So if you think about it, taking a holiday is actually GOOD for your career. Just keep in mind that you should always give plenty of notice before taking time off and prepare any work or necessary cover ahead of time, so that your boss is not left in the lurch when you’re gone.

What you REALLY want for Christmas 2016 revealed

Christmas presents under the Christmas tree

Aftershave to undies, perfume and lingerie may traditionally top the list of the most romantic yuletide gifts, but a new nationwide survey of more than 1000 people has found that 90% of Brits would actually prefer to receive an experience over a product this Christmas.

In fact, 9 out of 10 of those expecting to find something special under the tree next month would choose a night out at a theatre or show in London above receiving perfume, chocolates, alcohol or underwear.

An experience like a shared night out was also picked as a very romantic and thoughtful gift, in the survey carried out by SurveyMonkey on behalf of London theatre break specialists, BoxOfficeTheatre.com.

Those heading to the high street to buy some bubble bath might want to think twice, as 64.7% of us think bath gift sets are the most clichéd gift, showing a lack of thought and effort on the part of the giver.

With more than half of shoppers saying they wanted to make more time for memories with loved ones, a festive night out to see a showstopper like Aladdin or The Lion King could be just the ticket.

Caroline Coulson, Director of BoxOfficeTheatre.com said, “Christmas is a stressful time for many people, especially when it comes to choosing gifts for loved ones and 95% said a night out would be a thoughtful gift. With old staples such as socks, chocolate, home furnishings, perfume and clothing all receiving the thumbs down, it could be time to re-think those faithful standbys in favour of something that shows a little bit more thought and a lot more effort.”

Key findings from the Survey: What do you really want for Xmas this year?

  • 64.74% of people associate a bath gift set with a lack of thought and effort, followed by socks (27.01%)
  • 78.4% said they would get most enjoyment out of a trip to the theatre or to see a show, followed by clothes or accessories (10.24%)
  • 55.36% of people considered putting thought into the other person’s interests as the most important part of gift giving, followed by choosing something to create unique memories for the recipient to treasure (42.27%)
  • 64.45% of respondents consider clothing to be the most difficult gift to buy, followed by perfume (17.16%)

Offering a broad variety of show tickets available from feel-good musicals such as Wicked to acclaimed thrillers like The Woman In Black, BoxOfficeTheatre.com have thoughtful gifts available for everyone.

BoxOfficeTheatre.com is offering all customers a special Xmas gift, 10% off ALL Theatre Tickets and Theatre Breaks. Simply use code Xmas10 at the Checkout.

How to Cheat at Common Games this Christmas

Ok, Perhaps not “cheat” as thats ungentlemanly but how to strategically gain the upper hand. A term now in common usage is “Moneyballing”, a homage term to the book and film of the same name.

Let’s be honest though, it is not the taking part that counts. Crush your nearest and dearest with our gamesmanship tips. You don’t need to be the smartest at the table…just the best prepared.

So lets “Moneyball” some common Christmas and Family games….

Jenga: The Lean and Pinch

Put your elbow against the tower to stabilise it. And, if there are two blocks left in a row, it’s perfectly legal to pinch them together and move them so you can work one free.

Monopoly: Smart Real Estate

Buy Orange; The most commonly landed on square in Monopoly is “Jail” and the most commonly rolled numbers are 5, 6, 7 and 8, which statistically makes orange squares five times more likely to be landed on than any other.

Scrabble: Know your Two Letter Words

“Zo” is a Himalayan cow and “Za” is a Pizza, since you ask. S may only be worth 1 point but that’s because it’s so versatile. Q is worth a lot more, but you’ll struggle to use it. Popular use of Q is “QI” the Chinese life-force. Still get rid of it ASAP.

Cluedo: Deduce and Deceive

Don’t ask about cards you know your opponents are holding. When you make a suggestion, your goal is to get more information. If your opponents can show you the same card you’ve already seen, then you get no new information, and your turn has failed. The only cards that you have already marked off on your list that you should still ask about are your own cards, since nobody else will be able to disprove them.

Use the secret passages. This lets you move from a room to another room, guaranteed, without having to risk rolling the dice. That’s two suggestions in a row that you get to make, without having to worry about bad luck stealing your opportunity.
If you haven’t eliminated those two rooms after that, you can keep going back and forth between those two rooms until someone shows you one of those cards. Until they do, it’s the most efficient way to gather information.

Figure out what your opponents know. If an opponent repeatedly uses the same item in suggestions, whether it’s a location, weapon, or character, it probably means nobody else can disprove that item. If Suzy has made three suggestions in a row about the Revolver, chances are very good that the Revolver is either the murder weapon or in Suzy’s hand.

Roulette: Thunderball Strategy

The James Bond Roulette System is rather simple betting system. You need £20 for you to make a bet with this roulette strategy.

You need to bet £14 on high numbers (19-36), £5 on six numbers 13-18, and £1 on zero as insurance.

Possible outcomes:

  • If a number from 19 to 36 comes out you will have £8 profit.
  • If one of the 6 numbers from 13 to 18 comes out you will have £10 profit.
  • If Zero comes out you will have £16 profit.
  • If a number from 1 to 12 comes out and you lose, next time you will raise your bet as with the Martingale Roulette System.

If all else fails, play Russian Roulette, with dirty tactics….but don’t catch yourself out!
