What does your choice of car say about you?

He loves his convertible.

New research by a money saving website in the UK has revealed what car brands say about their driver, with BMW drivers most likely to be promiscuous, Ford drivers most likely to get married and Kia drivers most likely to have a spotless driving record. According to the poll, 32% of drivers judge others on their car choices, and a further 15% have been mocked because of the car they drive.

Over half of British drivers feel that the car they drive says a lot about them, and when given a list of character traits to determine patterns, it’s been revealed that BMW drivers are more likely to be promiscuous and Hyundai drivers are most likely to spend time in prison.

The team at www.VoucherCodesPro.co.uk conducted the research as part of an ongoing study into Britons on the road. 2,186 British drivers aged 18 and over, all of whom stated that they had owned a full driving license for a minimum of two years, were quizzed about their driving habits and the vehicle that they drove in order to determine any trends and patterns.

According to the poll, 57% of Britons admitted that they felt a car says a lot about the driver, with almost a third of respondents (32%) admitting that they judge other drivers based on their car choices and a further 15% stating that they have been mocked because of their car.

In order to determine if there were any trends between a driver’s personality and their car, all respondents were provided with a list of statements and told to select all those that applied to themselves, as well as state what make of car they owned. Once all of the responses were collated, the top trends per car type were revealed as follows:

· BMW drivers – I am a promiscuous person (69% of these drivers agreed)

· Kia drivers – I have children (59%)

· Ford drivers – I am/would like to get married (56%)

· Mini drivers – I have a spotless driving record (41%)

· Corsa drivers – I am unemployed (23%)

· Toyota drivers – I drive recklessly (32%)

· Land Rover drivers – I am due to inherit/have inherited money (24%)

· Mercedes-Benz drivers – I have/have had an STI (15%)

· Vauxhall driver – I own my own business (11%)

· Hyundai drivers – I have spent time in prison (6%)

George Charles, spokesperson for http://www.VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, said:

“It’s interesting that the car you own can say a lot about you. We all look for different things when we’re looking at cars; the speed they can do, the colour, the shape, whether or not it comes with additional features, and so on. With this in mind it makes sense that those who drive similar cars will have similar character traits; parents need bigger cars to accommodate for their children, bachelors will want something flashy to catch attention and show off, and those who love the countryside will no doubt prefer a 4×4.

There are some unexpected ones in there too, perhaps you can’t always judge a book by it’s cover when it comes to reckless Toyota drivers and STI-ridden Mercedes owners!”
