With the male beauty industry quickly catching up with the female, and increasingly niche grooming products hitting the shelves (anyone for a male body hair trimmer?), is it any surprise that male makeup is already becoming the norm.
Forget Keith Richard’s rock n’ roll guyliner, or reality TV stars’ glaringly obvious fake tan; within five years men will be waking up and reaching for foundation and bronzer!
We’ve noticed over the past 5 years that ‘manscaping’ is a phrase commonly used amongst men, no matter what your preference may be. Guys now reach for fake tan, hair conditioner, hair removal kits, teeth whitening gels and most popularly moisturiser. But what do you think when it comes to men’s make-up?
We were recently contacted by MMUK who have recently launched a men’s make-up range. mensmake-up.co.uk is a site specifically designed for men, by men.
They understand the importance of modern day men to look their best every day! Therefore, they are proud to offer the UK’s widest and best range of makeup for men products, exclusively at their online male makeup store. Whether you’re in search of a little touch up in the form of a concealer for men, or perhaps a completely fresh and polished look with the help of a men’s foundation, you’re sure to find the product right for you online.
But let’s take one step back.
We must admit, we’re not opposed to using some concealer to cover a spot if we’re heading out for the evening, but is it something we’d discuss? No.
Why not?
Why not talk about using basic make-up products? Why not use make-up products? If a little cover up and filling in the gaps gives you confidence, then go for it!
…it’ll save you rummaging through your girlfriend’s make-up bag!
So MMUK sent us a few products to trial, these included a concealer, an eyeliner, a powder bronzer and two moisturisers.
Whilst we’re no experts at applying make-up, this is all very new, the application of the concealer under the eyes (getting rid of those bags) was relatively easy and made a very noticeable difference!
If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then your soul is desperately sleep-deprived and agitated. The skin that surrounds your peepers is so delicate and thin that even the slightest hiccup in your sleeping schedule will show up in the form of puffiness or, worse yet, dark circles.
Puffiness is a sign of fluid retention in the tissue, a condition that is exacerbated by a diet rich in salt and alcohol. The fluid can be drained by placing two freezer-fresh metal spoons on your eyes. Dark circles, on the other hand, are usually caused by dilated blood vessels that become visible beneath translucent skin OR simply pop on some of the MMUK concealer. The concealer is perfect for hiding the sins of the weekend.
We’ve not had chance to use the eyeliner yet – maybe that’s one we’re just not ready for yet personally, but it’s been stored in the bedside cabinet for our next rocky outing.
The moisturisers have created a light and clean appearance to the skin.
What’s even better is that these products are made for OUR skin. Guys have a ticker more course skin than women, so it makes sense to apply something that works best with us.
One thing which certainly has been apparent during the up-rise of men’s makeup is the encouragement ladies give to gents to experiment with a little bronzer for men, men’s tinted moisturiser and even guyliner, amongst others. Instead of being perceived as a catalogue of grooming outsiders, such male makeup products are now being thrust into the heart of the industry to make men look more appealing, feel more confident and dare we say it?… Look sexier. Women certainly know what they want in their men, and Makeup For Men UK are here to make sure the battle of the sexes firmly resides on the side of Britain’s alpha males, giving him every chance of success.
Whether it’s to feel more confident, simply hide a blemish or tide eyes, there’s absolutely no shame in purchasing male specific make-up.
