Mobs London – from teen to gent

bg-banner7-770x572

Mobs

MOBS LONDON is a brand new London based company specialising in lifestyle products for young men. MOBS LONDON was set up for a couple of reasons, one being a flooded gift market for young ladies and secondly a poor minimal selection of products for young men.

I can remember being 13 years old and wanting to step away from the t-shirts with cartoon characters on, the full sports-kits, childish outer-wear and dress like a grown-up…the only problem with that, was the fact that the sizes of clothing for a small man were far too big for my (still) boyish frame! Although I was 13, I definitely thought I was going on 30 and that one size fit all; the truth was the t-shirts, trousers and jackets were all too long and definitely oversized from any high street retailer! It frustrated me and it frustrated my mum!

It’s exactly the reasons mentioned above how MOBS LONDON came about. MOBS have created a brand working with UK designers and printers to produce some exclusive apparel. Alongside the MOBS LONDON brand they have high quality products which have been carefully sourced, trying wherever possible to work with manufacturers in the UK, for the purpose of the younger adult.

Mums…fear no-more, finally!

With the above in mind, in this article we’re going to look at a few of items from Mobs’ collection and show you that this brand, although aimed at young men is still appropriate for those pushing out of the target age bracket (like ourselves!) and a few ideas to style them.

Logo T-Shirt (Black) £20.00

The beauty of a plain t-shirt is the ability to dress it up or down. For summer, grab your lumberjack shirt, throw it round and your waist. This kind of t-shirt is easy to wear in any occasion with any clothing.

Blah Hat T-Shirt £30.00

A white tee, with a printed image is easy to wear with jeans and trainers.

Red ‘Y’ Tee £30.00

image2

This red tee, is perfect for summer 2016 – one of the key trends for this season is bold colours…it’s bang on trend!

All in all, MOBS is a cool, simple and well designed brand that has been created that on the whole includes chaps from the pre-teen age all the way up to us in our late twenties!

The website is easy to navigate, with lots of product photography and the quality of the items are demonstrated throughout the site. The prices are clearly listed so there are no shocks or surprises at the checkout.

It was about time someone spotted this gap in the market and filled perfectly with a brand that any age of gent would be happy to wear, tricky job, but with the bright colours, simple designs, no age restrictions are placed on these products.

Not only does the brand sell t-shirts, they sell the following items:

The one-stop shop for the younger gent was founded by the wives of Gary Barlow and Jason Donovan: Dawn Barlow, who has three children with Gary, and Angela Malloch, who has three with Donovan…after becoming frustrated while trying to find gifts for their teenage sons.

Dawn said: “We felt the market was flooded with great products for girls and, unless you want tech or novelty, nothing for the boys. It was as simple as us just saying to each other ‘Why don’t we fill the gap ourselves?’ We did a lot of market research, mostly on our boys and their friends. We found they really like to keep things simple and that was a good starting point.

The brand remains true to it’s ethos, whilst broadening it’s horizon’s and making it an appealing brand for all.

I’m sure this is one Mum’s and Son’s are going to love!

Here’s what we got from MOBS and how it looked when it arrived:

One to watch: Wolf State Clothing

Welcome to the new kids on the block. The tee shirt makers from the West Midlands have relaunched their brand and we’ve thrown them into our hot seat to do some digging.

We thought you chaps would want to know how you go about starting your own label, why, where you start and so we can find out the truth behind Wolf State Clothing…

Wolf State started in early 2015, with a small collection of two shirts. These shirts sold incredibly well for a small independent brand and we sold quite a few to America and Europe, which was incredible and highly inspiring.

Towards the end of 2015, they decided we needed a little bit of a rebrand, they spent around 4 months in total coming up with ideas, planning, designing and sampling.

Wolf State wanted to make sure they could deliver a quality range and for a re launch it had to special. They recently launched their re brand and have a phenomenal response, orders were being taken just a couple of hours after the site went live. “It’s such a good feeling to see people having belief in our range and supporting us.”

The chaps at Wolf State haven’t really slowed down in terms of planning and designing, they’re still really keen to progress and move the brand forward! They have a few goodies set to come out for AW16 however right now the focus is on the launch collection “Explore the Unknown”.

Question Time!

Both Adam & Ryan from wolf state took a bit of time out of their busy day to answer our top 10 questions for every start-up brand…

1.What made you start up Wolf State?

We started up Wolf State because we wanted to start something new. We wanted to create something new and exciting and to express our creativity through clothing. We’d admired brands such as Horizon Bay, Represent, and STAG clothing, and wanted to replicate with our own design.

2. Was it easy creating the brand logo/identity?

We found our brand relatively easy to come up with. The name Wolf State was decided as we are Wolverhampton based. The logo and strap-line for the launch capsule ‘Explore The Unknown’ followed as we were exploring the unknown with what we were doing.

3. How did you decide what you were going to stock?

We decided we wanted to stock three tees to give people a choice. People have different styles and opinions so we came up with three designs that were different, but all fitted with our style. We had quite a few designs knocking about, but with help from a few close mates and colleagues, we narrowed down our choice to the three now on sale.

4. Tell us a little more about “Explore the Unknown”

Like we mentioned in the 2nd question, Explore the unknown is as much a strap-line for everyone else as it is for us. Its about wanting to get up and go, do something different, try something new, which is exactly what we were doing when starting the brand.

5. You mentioned you wanted to expand. Is there anything you’re dying to create/stock?

We would like to expand. The tee’s are selling well, but we would like another line of tee’s out, potentially some hoodies and sweaters soon. We’re going to keep doing what were doing at the moment. AW16 is on the horizon though.

6. Do you each have a favourite tee that’s in stock? Which would you choose?

We both have different favourites. Ryan’s is the Original Wolf tee, whereas mine is the Explore Tee.

7.Is it exciting to see the hard work paying off?

It’s great to see people wearing and appreciating the work that’s gone into our tees. We get a sense of satisfaction knowing we have created them from scratch, from the design, sourcing the tee supplier, the printer and all the other hard work that’s gone into it.

8.How would each of you describe your style, and do you think this influences the brand?

I would describe our style as contemporary with a slight old school twist to it. We have many people who influence us; P&Co, Represent, Horizon Bay, Stand Tall Amongst Giants, Inspected.

9.Where do you see Wolf State in 2 years time?

In 2 years time, we would like to have a few lines out and be relatively established.

10. Where would you Wolf State to be in 5 years time?

In 5 years, we would like to have many lines out and to have developed the brand. We’re taking it step by step for now though, little steps.

Lead Not Follow: Spotlight Session #2 Ryan Atkins

LNF9

After the success of last week’s spotlight session and stepping away from the advice column, keeping it fresh, we’ve thrown another familiar face into the hot seat. In the second in this new series of posts, we’ve fired a series of questions at Rugby League’s Ryan Atkins, centre/wing for Warrington.

We thought you chaps would like to find out what the people in the limelight choose when faced with options, so here we go, here’s our quick fire interview with Ryan…

    My phone
  2. The item of clothing you wear most is…

  15. What’s the best present you’ve ever received?

    Night in!
  17. Jeans or Chinos?
    Jeans.
  18. Boxers or Briefs?
    Boxers.

#StyleIt – Rohnis International

image1

It’s spring (finally) and we’re looking at how you can wear what’s appropriate for this sunny, but still cold weather, when it’s likely to take a turn at any moment!

We all want to feel comfortable in this transition period from winter to summer, so a few bursts of colour and some strong wardrobe essentials will set us all up for whatever Spring may throw at us…and to be fair, it’s likely to be a whole lot of rain.

With this in mind, let me introduce to you Rohnis International. A UK based company, that, if you’re not the most daring fashion wise, but like to be on trend with trust worthy items, this is the brand for you.

Rhohni’s are an international company that design in-house and distribute innovative clothing throughout the UK and Europe with the talent and resources to supply the rest of the world.

They have been established for over 25 years and are based in Northumberland, UK. Through diligence, hard work, knowledge and connection they are able to source all their customer’s requirements globally.

All of their fashion brands are designed and developed at their head office, with the ever changing fashion trends, Rohni’s are at the forefront of worldwide research and development. Even with the samples we were sent here at High Street Gent, I can guarantee that their service is fast, efficient, reliable and very dependable.

image2

We were sent the above polo-tee and trainers from Rohni’s D-Rock clothing range. D-Rock clothing was established with the concept of combing urban cool with an aspiring laid back sophistication.

The collection brings a unique brand of personal style with a smart street inspired image which targets today’s trend-conscious men with this exciting and versatile selection of dynamic styles. The use of a combination of traditional modern fabrics and manufacturing techniques offer a hard wearing performance which enhance the brands uniqueness and individuality.

The polo-tee we were sent is one of those key wardrobe essentials, it’s casual, but could be smart, it’s neutral in colour, it has a simple yet effective design on it and it’s versatile. For Spring, having the bird design really ties in with the seasons fashion trends.

Similar to the tee, the trainers too are versatile, they’re dark in colour, with a touch of denim, to give the casual feel. So these are most definitely a trainer for style, not for practicality like the gym, but we all need those trainers we keep clean and shiny, so it’s not an issue…They are incredibly comfy too!

We twinned the tee and trainers with some cropped black skinnies, a red bobble hat for colour and attitude, perfect for a casual-feel spring afternoon.

If you want to find out more about Rohnis International please email info@rohnis.com or visit their twitter page: @_rohnis_ to browse their ranges…and because the guys at Rohnis are so nice, if you contact them directly they can provide you with their goods at the wholesale prices as opposed to the retail price that they would find online, since we love blogging about affordable fashion.

“Lead Not Follow” Weekly Takeover #2

LNF3

Fashion seems to many men like something that is constraining, “inside the box” and uncomfortable and, we have to say, that’s in a certain way right! The reason this is only partially right is because a lot of men treat it as such. But this doesn’t mean that it has to be. And this where the difference between fashion and style lies. While fashion might be something that is strict and full of rules, style is each individual’s take on his appearance. Fashion should be a tool used to create style.

Finding your style might not be easy, and even though most men have a rather good picture of what they wish to look like, they somehow can’t seem to pull off the look they want. Mostly, this is not because they don’t have a clear picture of what they aspire to, but because there are details that seem to lack importance; but which in fact are probably more important than all the work you might put into creating a wardrobe.

This is why we decided to make a list of 5 quick tips which can be applied to any style, any taste and any budget. If you follow these simple aesthetics insights, your appearance will improve considerably and your outlook on “fashion” and “style” won’t be the same.

To discover these 5 tips, head over to leadnotfollow.co.uk where we’ve taken over the “Inspire Me” section…

Keep your eyes well and truly peeled every Sunday from 8pm over at Lead Not Follow for cheeky updates to keep you all look fly.

#StyleIt – Office Tips

A quick article today chaps, featuring a few short pointers on key wardrobe favourites for every guy in the office.

I work in an office, Monday through Friday, 0900-1700. I always want to look my best but  want that edge of difference to make me stand out. Fundamentally, with all my posts, I can’t afford the expensive new suits and accessories of your everyday typical ‘baller’, so instead I choose to re-wear, mix up and match different outfits with those of others that I think will work.

Here is today’s outfit for the office, not overly expensive, but I received several compliments already…and it’s only lunchtime!

The Topman grey skinny tailored Blazer gives the smart look, with added black cotton trim to really smarten up this outfit. With its fitted approach under the arms and around the shoulders, it formalizes what would’ve been a white shirt and black jean combo. The Black edging and fine lapel offer the tailored look opportunity for a tie.

As I’ve gone for black, white and grey, it really didn’t limit me to tie style, colour or material – I’ve therefore gone for a bold red silk tie to bring the outfit to life. This tie was £2.00 from Primark. Whilst we’re on accessories, I’ve worn my red smart socks courtesy of The London Sock Co. to tie the outfit together. They really set off the tan brogues from Burton Menswear (these I got free when i purchased a three piece suit for £99.00).

The black skinny jeans I’m wearing from Topman have a wax look to them, they therefore don’t give the impression of a jean, but do have the comfort for the office, leaving everyone non-wiser. The not-overly-obvious skinny tailoring smarten up your leg-wear perfect for meetings and rest lightly on the top of my brogues. (In turn this shows I’ve thought about my outfit twinning my tie and socks in to finalise the look). Sale- £20.00

The shirt is a crisp white smart cotton shirt from H&M‘s easy-iron range. There’s nothing worst than a creased shirt for the office, but with the easy iron, a quick skim over in the morning doesn’t waste time, but keeps your looking pressed. The white shirt lifts the dark blazer and jeans allowing options for colour in your accessories to show off your personality. Easy-Iron Shit £7.99

To top off the outfit I’ve worn my Links of London black rope bracelet and Gold & Black Cog-exposed Watch from Sekonda.

Not only would this outfit suit the office, it would be perfect for a smasual party, a night in a fancy club or when you’re passing round the over sized Grey Goose bottle for a selfie to impress. (I joke).

Style it! ft. Skull & Bones

image2You chaps have been more interested in what I’ve been wearing and how recently, so here goes another ‘style it!’.

With Spring approaching fast, although it’s still bloody freezing out, we’re all going to start peeling back the layers and try to bask in whatever sun we can grasp at.

Bear that in mind, pop your thermals back in the wardrobe and here are a few things to consider for the coming weeks. I’m going to share with you a cracking little store I’ve stumbled across  that has some great items at very reasonable prices and with that we can officially announce we’ve gone international…

Skull & Bones

Skull & Bones is a mens underwear and t-shirt company that uniquely merges activewear, premium fabrics, and minimalist design to create a unique blend of comfort and forward-looking style. Through their blend of luxurious and high-tech fabrics, they provide customers with lightweight, premium undergarments that looks as good on under clothes as they do on a bedroom floor.

Like you, they were tired of the current trends in men’s premium underwear. Everything was boring! The fabric wasn’t soft or comfortable enough. The selections of colours were bland. There was no fashion-forward edge to anything in the luxury underwear market.

They knew they would have to start from scratch. They sampled every kind of fabric possible, tried hundreds of fits, and obsessed over every single stitch until they created our dream product. Then they made it even more luxurious by incorporating superior fabrics like Modal, Supima Cotton, and high-tech Carbon Fiber.

They promise to provide you, the customers, with the clothing that will allow you to be your most confident and comfortable, no matter the occasion. S&B promise to provide you with the products to support your active lifestyle, whether you’re hitting the gym or getting ready for a night out. They understand a man’s desire for excitement and adventure – and want to be the product you turn to at every milestone. They’re here, quite literally, to support you any way that they can.

You won’t find another clothing company that reflects the sexy, fashion-forward design and attitude of New York City.

The focus on their multipurpose clothing means you can mix it, dress it up for occasions or dress it down for the gym. With this in mind Dan & Tom have chosen two ways in which to wear Skull & Bones.

Get the look:

Face the facts

Taking care of your skin is the single most important thing you can do for your appearance. Sure, a sense of style helps, but the best clothing in the world can’t cover up unsightly bumps and blemishes. Even if you think you’re a skin care expert — and chances are you don’t — this refresher course from the basic to the advanced will remind you of what you should be including in your skin care arsenal.

As a man, your skin is unique and using female or unisex products just won’t cut it. The reason for the differences is due to testosterone. The biggest differences are:

Your skin is 25% thicker than a woman’s, primarily due to having higher collagen density than a woman, providing a stronger structural base for the skin. This means less creasing and folding of the skin, also known as wrinkles.

This is also a big reason why men’s faces hold up better over time, if taken care of.

Zeos for Men

So here we go again, we’ve found a great company called Zeos for Men, and we’ve tested their brand new QU3 skin care range with resistem.

Modern city life is very tough on the skin, bombarded daily by waves of pollution and stress and attacked from the inside by convenience foods and fast living, all taking a heavy toll.

This is why Zeos for Men have developed our QU3 Skin Care Range, a 21st century defence system unifying the latest technologies to create a layered resistance to keep the skin’s enemies at bay!

Fielding three primary defences: face & body moisturiser, face scrub & face wash, hair & body shower gel all effectively combine to protect your skin throughout the day.

We’ve tested the products and we’re going to review them below along with some top tips to look after yourselves chaps:

Face wash

Twenty years ago, it was a miracle if men’s grooming including anything more than washing the face with a bar of soap. Unfortunately, using a simple soap is about as bad as doing nothing at all: It can leave your skin taut and thirsty. Instead, use a cleanser that strikes a delicate balance between tough and tender. Look  no further that Zeos…for a natural fragrance gel face wash that’s suitable for all skin types that is strong enough to cut through those overactive male sebaceous glands yet gentle enough to be used every day. This gel smells good, not too potent for first thing in the morning, but leaves your face feeling fresh.

Face scrub

A face wash is just the opening act for facial cleansing. Men’s skin is naturally thicker than women’s, with larger pores that roll out the red carpet for nasty debris. A granular scrub should be used two to three times a week to exfoliate and dislodge dirt deep down. No one likes to look at bumps and blackheads, and scrubbing will help smooth your complexion for a clearer, cleaner appearance. It also softens the skin as a first step toward a less gruesome shaving experience. With Zeos the combination in the little bottle means you don’t have to scrub away, scratching your skin, it softly cleanses with a cracking scent too. It feels natural and clean, it also washes away simply leaving you feeling fresh.

Moisturiser

Even the mildest facial cleansers can leave your skin feeling just plain parched. And don’t think you can cheat the system by using one fortified with a laundry list of special moisturising agents. The truth is that every guy, even those with oily skin, needs to replenish the moisture content of their skin. Something as routine as showering or washing your face with hot water can open pores and allow valuable water to escape. A moisturiser like Zeos is light and breathy, minutes after putting it on it felt as though nothing was there, it wasn’t oily, thick or gloopy, it was a pleasure to use.

This whole process was pretty simple in and out the shower too, so it won’t add time to your routine, even though they’re few products.

Finally, here are the figures gents, no need to hold your breath, they’re so reasonable:

Zeos for Men QU3 Face Wash 150ml – £7.95

Zeos for Men QU3 Face Scrub 150ml – £7.95

Zeos for Men QU3 Face & Body Moisturiser  150ml – £8.95

Zeos for Men QU3 Hair & Body Shower Gel 150ml – £4.95

In the words of Zeos for Men we were ready to “take on the city. Urban defence for urban skin.”

Bargain Time. #Watches

Watch

“Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend”

…and on time is what I’ve spent my money. Not a lot of money, but hence the reason for this very short, but very sweet post.

Unfortunately, my trusty watch stopped at the weekend, I’ve had it for a good few years, so tasked myself with finding a new one. I wanted something suitable for work and play and more importantly not too pricey.

If you’re like me, I feel naked without my watch on, so I wanted a new one pretty sharpish…having spent 3 days looking at my bare wrist for the time. Not cool.

After browsing the first places online that sprung to mind, nothing was jumping out at me. They were either ridiculously chavy or came with a hefty price tag. That was until I remembered ASOS had sent me an email about their Men’s Watches Sale a few weeks ago, so I head on over to their site.

I found it. It’s smart, classy, eye catching and not a chunky number that screamed “rob me”.

The Sekonda Leather Strap Watch with Mechanical Detail (Item 3426.27) was mine.

The best part about it is that it only cost £39.99. Right on time.

I’ve blogged about ASOS before and how speedy their service is, it’s cracking. I ordered at 6 pm at night, with next delivery for a fiver. At 10 am the next day my wrist was fully dressed again, not catching the breeze and I could relax, ready for anyone to ask me time. (I’ve been some what walking around the office today with my sleeve rolled up, hoping someone will ask about it).

I’m my own worst enemy though, I give away all my secrets and told them how much it was.

Chaps, if you’re looking for a new watch, that looks expensive (minus the price tag) take a look at ASOS’ Watches range – with currently 70% off a lot of items, even watches, it’s top notch.
